You must import a license key prior to using the CountryHawk component. Otherwise the object creation will fail with a detailed error message regarding an invalid license key.
You may import your license key at the time of installation (recommended), or you may skip the key import at the time of installation and import the key later by running the CountryHawk Key Manager program (which is also used to convert from an evaluation to purchased version).
Importing your key at the time of installation:
Once the installation program finishes installing CountryHawk, you will be given the option to import a license key, to download an evaluation key, or to purchase a license key.
If you purchased CountryHawk, your license key was emailed to you. If you are evaluating CountryHawk, a license key was available from our download section of the cyScape web site.
To import your purchased or evaluation license key, press the Import key button. This will then prompt you for the file containing your key. For purchases your file will typically be in the format of ch_your_name.lic. Evaluation keys are typically named ch_evalkey.lic.
If you do not have an evaluation key, you can press the Download button to be taken to a section of the cyScape web site where an evaluation key is available. Please note that CountryHawk will provide for only one evaluation period.
If you wish to obtain a permanent license key by purchasing CountryHawk, press the Purchase button.
You may elect to skip the importing of the key at this step by pressing the Skip button at the bottom of the form. This may be handy, for example, if you do not have the key readily available and wish to close out the installation program and import the key later.
Importing your key by using the CountryHawk Key Manager:
You can import your CountryHawk license key by using the License Key Manager. To run this program, choose Start->cyScape->CountryHawk->License Key Manager.
The Key Manager is used to convert your installation from a free evaluation to a purchased version. Once you purchase the software you will be sent your permanent license key. To install this key, simply run this program and point it at your new key file when prompted.
Note: The Key Manager, whether used at time of install or later by running it manually, simply prepares the key for use by the component. This program does not verify that the key is valid. That check occurs at run-time when the component is initialized for the first time since the key was imported. Therefore, assuming you are using this with ASP or ASP.NET, if you wish to be certain that the key import was successful, you should restart your web services (if instances of CountryHawk have already been created since the services were last started) and access one of your web scripts that use the component. If there is a problem with the imported key, a detailed error message will be displayed at that time.
